We’re so excited to celebrate with you at Movement Futures on November 21st in Washington, D.C.! Our grassroots movement for media and technology rights has always been linked to art, culture, and community — from late night planning sessions in Oakland to making protest signs and preparing policy briefs on Capitol Hill. In fact, it all began over a decade ago with a gathering of racial justice organizers with a vision of something they named "media justice" — including our outgoing Founding Director Malkia Devich-Cyril.
As we we think about how far we've come under Malkia's leadership and where we're headed next, we couldn't think of any better performer for our 10th anniversary party than Meshell Ndegeocello, a ten time Grammy-nominated singer, rapper, and bassist known for her own vision and activism. She also happens to be one of Malkia's favorite artists!
Her music makes us so happy we’re extending early bird ticket sales for the fundraiser through the end of the week, so grab your ticket before they sell out! And stay tuned for further details about the night's programming — it's going to be really special. 🎉
