Dear John,

Not so long ago, a popular assumption was that climate change was a problem for the distant future, and that being from the North—and away from rising seas—we might be less affected. But now, experience has proven that assumption wrong.

The continued cycle of once-unthinkable extreme weather events coupled with an ongoing global health crisis have confirmed that Minnesota and the Midwest are at serious risk—along with the rest of the world—and the time is now to act.

I’m thankful to see Minnesotans of all stripes stepping up and taking action on climate. The climate crisis is more urgent than ever, and we need ambitious policies and investments that push Minnesota and the United States closer to a clean energy future.

John, like you, we are concerned for the future. Fresh Energy has dedicated three decades to shaping and driving ambitious policy solutions in Minnesota and the Midwest, but it’s time to do more. Will you join us and make a gift to Fresh Energy to ensure that together, we can continue to make progress at this critical moment? ([link removed])

With your support, Fresh Energy chalked up some pivotal accomplishments this year. We helped Minnesota become the Midwest’s first clean cars state ([link removed]) , we helped pass the ECO Act at the Minnesota Legislature ([link removed]) to modernize our state's bedrock energy efficiency policy, and we led work at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission to ensure that prior to retirement, coal plants only run when absolutely necessary ([link removed]) .

These are just a few of the ways our research and advocacy generated solid progress in fighting global climate change here at home.

Please make a gift today so that we can continue driving the ambitious progress we need.

Your gift will help Fresh Energy enter the new year ready keep on tackling critical issues standing in the way of Minnesota’s clean energy future, including:
* Ending the decades-long pattern of investing in and incentivizing fossil gas that threatens to lock Minnesota into an unsustainable gas-dependent future.
* Securing historic, unprecedented federal investments in clean energy, clean transportation, infrastructure, climate, and environmental justice.
* Building a future-proof electric grid that can handle extreme weather, increased demand to move away from fossil fuels, and our growing carbon-free electricity supply.
* Pushing clean transportation to the next phase by advancing ambitious and equitable policies—from electric buses to zero-emissions medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and everything in between—that will transform how we move our people and our goods in Minnesota.

Please donate today ([link removed]) and together we will build on Fresh Energy’s three decades of ambitious, actionable, and equitable clean energy and climate progress in Minnesota.

Sincerely,

Michael Noble
Executive Director
