Dear John, It's hard to believe that 2021 is almost over. While the past year has had its ups and downs, we'd like to take a moment to highlight the ups. Over the past year, CMCA has improved on established programs and services and introduced new programs and services. Upgrade to Head Start Center Some of CMCA's Head Start centers received building upgrades during 2021 including the Clubhouse Head Start. Thanks to a gift from the Boonville Community Foundation the center added an awning over the front door to protect children and parents from the weather when loading and unloading cat the center.
Financial Coaches Added In early 2021, CMCA added the Financial Opportunity Model to our services. This service provides Financial Coaches for low-to-moderate income families with the goal of helping them build effective money habits and a more stable financial foundation. The program is offered in cooperation with The Rural Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).
Resource Coordinators Added CMCA’s Whole Family Approach model is designed to improve economic stability, family well-being and social connections for the families we serve. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Missouri Women's Business Center Expands In July, the Missouri Women's Business Center (MoWBC) celebrated its fifth anniversary of serving entrepreneurs and small business owners in mid-Missouri. Since its inception in 2016, the center has seen a rapid increase in the number of people seeking support to start or sustain businesses. This prompted the center to expand staffing to allow for more one-on-one coaching. During FY 2020-21 MoWBC staff served 375 unique clients and provide 55 capital infusions totaling more than $1,000,000.
New Strategic Plan CMCA employees and members of the Board of Directors worked to develop and hone a new mission statement and strategic plan in 2021. The months long process resulted in a new mission statement for CMCA and a new strategic plan focused on five areas:
New Data Dashboard CMCA is a data-driven agency. We know that having good data and using it to evaluate and track our programs and services is the best way to ensure that what we are doing is making an impact. It is for these reasons that we have developed a data dashboard. The dashboard provides up-to-date data about goals outlined in our strategic plan. Community Initiatives Throughout the year, our community organizing team has worked within the eight counties to build partnerships with businesses, individuals, and other organizations to meet each community's most pressing needs. These include workforce development, housing, mental and physical health, foster care support, and disaster preparedness and recovery.
Tigers on the Prowl After almost two-years of not being able to host in-person events, CMCA celebrated along with five other charities as a beneficiary of the Tigers on the Prowl Auction and Gala. , CMCA raised about $16,000 to support family and community needs in mid-Missouri.
Join Us for Two Chairs and Some Potted Plants, a monthly Facebook Live Broadcast! Our December "Two Charis and Some Potted Plants" Facebook Live event will be hosted on Thursday, December 16 at Noon! This month's guest is CMCA Executive Director Darin Preis. He will be talking in-depth about CMCA's new mission statement and strategic plan and how the goals we've set through the plan are aimed at helping more families build financial stability and brighter futures.
