In the last few weeks, two things have become crystal clear:

1. Western North Carolina is ground zero for Madison Cawthorn’s attempt at an extremist takeover of North Carolina.

2. Organizing will be the key to winning this election. We must replace Madison Cawthorn and Mark Meadows' toxic, divisive brand of politics with a politics of love, empathy, and doing right by our neighbors. And I need your support to do it.

Let’s start with why winning in Western North Carolina is so important. Last week, Madison Cawthorn and Donald Trump were exposed hatching a plan at Mar-a-Lago for an extremist takeover of North Carolina.

Trump and Cawthorn are playing a dangerous and cynical game of musical chairs in North Carolina. They're running multiple right-wing candidates in districts where they’ve never lived, and handpicking candidates who are willing to go along with the Big Lie that the election was stolen.

Western North Carolina is one of the most competitive and important battlegrounds in North Carolina. It could determine control of Congress. And the only way that we will win is if we do what I’ve done my whole career: Organize.

This last Saturday, we held our 6th Day of Action, and the energy was off the charts. We had over 60 volunteers sign up to knock doors and make phone calls, even though it was a rainy day in December here in the mountains.

This is how we fight the toxicity we see from Trump, Cawthorn, and their allies -- by meeting people where they are, listening to what matters to them, and connecting with them on a human level.

It is what I’ve dedicated myself to as a minister, an organizer, and an elected official. It is what I will do as a candidate, and it is what I will continue to do after I am elected. However, we can’t build the robust organization that we need to connect to the people of Western North Carolina without you.
