A YEAR OF OCEAN IMPACT 👊🏽What. A. Year. Your Ocean Activism has fuelled 12 months of unprecedented impact for the ocean, powering us towards the thriving future we are all fighting for. Thank you 🙌🙌🙌 So, as we near the end of the year, let's take a moment to reflect on our Ocean Activist highlights of 2021: ✅ Our #EndSewagePollution campaign saw the #SewageScandal hit the headlines and thousands of Ocean Activists engage in actions that forced the government to add new legal duties on water companies to improve water quality 💩 🛑 ✅ Our #MillionMileClean saw 140,000+ Ocean Activists clean 1million+ miles of the UK, reconnecting communities with blue and green spaces after lockdown and raising awareness about the scourge of plastic pollution 🥤🌍 ✅ The #DirtyDozen, responsible for the UK's packaging pollution crisis, were called out in our Brand Audit report, which got widespread news coverage and helped raise awareness of the need for an 'all-in' Deposit Return Scheme for the UK 🗑️🏖️ ✅ Our #OceanEmergency campaign petition was signed by 68,397 Ocean Activists and delivered to 10 Downing Street. Ocean Activists also took to the water in their masses for our G7 paddle-out and to the streets of Glasgow for COP26 protests 🔥🌊 We also... **deep breath** ...engaged Ocean Activists of the future through Ocean School and the Pupil Power Assembly; facilitated and promoted the Youth Ocean and Climate Summit and Manifesto; continued to grow and develop our Plastic Free Communities network; published reports on water quality, ocean and climate change and ocean recovery; and improved our free Safer Seas & Rivers Service water quality app! What. A. Year. Thank you for making all this possible. We're nothing without you but together we create waves of change.
