Dear John,

Thanks to your steadfast investment, 2021 has been a year of continuing social impact. Our presence in the rooms where decisions are made means more inclusive and thoughtful government policies and more authentic portrayals in media and television. With your support, we are working towards a future that includes our story — One where American Muslims walk with pride in the positive and inclusive narratives that describe the multi-racial, multi-ethnic diversity of our identity.

In order for our efforts to continue to succeed, now more than ever, we need your urgent support. Can you invest in MPAC before the end of 2021?

Here's some of what we accomplished this year.

Adaptive Response in Times of Crisis

  • In the aftermath of the January 6 insurrection, amidst a debate over enhanced terrorism statutes, MPAC partnered with Emgage Action to cut to the root of the issue. Our report, The Double Standards of U.S. FTO vs. DTO Prosecution was presented in the United States Capitol, drawing the attention of key members of Congress in both chambers and across party lines. These actions help Congress understand the American Muslim perspective on the safety of all Americans.

Amplifying Inclusion, Representation, and Authentic Narrative

  • We partnered with Film Independent to create the MPAC Hollywood Bureau Writing Fellowship marking a major step forward toward our inclusion in Hollywood and the institutionalizing of our screenwriting labs. We hope the eventual recipient of this $10,000 fellowship will go on to create authentic characters and stories that elevate perceptions of our communities. We are proud to uplift the authentic and nuanced narratives of the American Muslim community.

Putting Young American Muslims in Positions to Succeed

  • This summer our Congressional Leadership Development Program (CLDP) hosted its largest cohort to date, doubling our impact in the halls of Congress. Many of our fellows played a role in framing major policy issues and were meaningful contributors to one of the most active congressional sessions in recent history. Our fellows celebrated the first-ever Eid on the Hill through our relationship with Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer. We provided a home for American Muslim elected officials, staffers, and fellows to observe one of the most joyous of occasions where they work: the United States Capitol, the seat of our democracy.

It is only through a deep commitment to the dignity afforded to all, the value of a pluralistic society, and the belief in merciful justice that all Americans can overcome challenges. We strengthen our connections and move forward together for a more hopeful future. In the ongoing story of us, together, let’s write the next chapter.
