Dear John,
Good morning from Wichita Falls, where last night I met with over 350 people, including men and women who have served at Sheppard Air Force Base, school teachers and counselors who give their best to the children of this community, and many others who are committing themselves to the necessary work to win this election.
This morning I got up early and ran down to Lake Wichita. Geese, ducks, mourning doves, and all other kinds of birds were just waking up as the sun lit up the few clouds overhead. It’s the best way to start the day as we jump back in the truck and drive west to Amarillo.
It’s been one month since we launched this campaign for Governor and I’ve got to tell you that I feel very good about what we’ve been able to do together so far and optimistic about the road ahead.
We have hundreds more stops to make, thousands more conversations to start, and millions more votes to turn out by Election Day. John, it’s going to take all of us working together to keep this campaign moving.
The amount of support this campaign has received has exceeded every expectation we had from the outset. There are over 10,000 volunteers who’ve signed up through our website and at our events; more than 67,000 individual donors have made a contribution; and in the first 24 hours of the campaign we raised more than $2 million, more than any gubernatorial race has ever raised in a similar period of time.
And we’ve been able to meet with people on the road, in every part of Texas. El Paso, Fort Stockton, San Antonio, Laredo, Hebbronville, Edinburg, Mission, McAllen, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Portland, Houston, Dallas, Midland, Odessa, Austin, Fort Worth, Stamford, De Leon, Desdemona, Rising Star, Abilene, San Angelo, Seabrook, Sugar Land, Rosenberg, Galveston, Beaumont, Nacogdoches, Marshall, Longview, Texarkana, Paris, Gainesville, Wichita Falls, Amarillo, Hale Center, and Lubbock.
Fort Bend County
We are going everywhere. Taking no one for granted. Writing no one off. And bringing the same message of returning Texas to our big, pressing priorities: creating better jobs, ensuring we have great public schools, and expanding Medicaid so that every Texan is well enough to live to their full potential.
Thank you for your help and your faith in this campaign,
Beto
