Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows handed over a PowerPoint presentation to the House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol. The topic? How the Trump administration planned to overturn the 2020 election results — including by declaring a national emergency.

So yeah. Republicans planned a coup by PowerPoint.

Here’s the reality in America in 2021: Maintaining Democratic control of the Senate isn’t just about passing our policies, as vital as that is. It’s also about protecting our democracy as we know it from the people who want to tear it apart.
