We are glad you love reading Hechinger stories because we love writing them.
All the tiny details and big picture analysis we stuff into each story take weeks, sometimes months, of careful research, in-person interviews, school visits and data collection. The work is fulfilling and important, but it is not free.
Luckily, you can help. Member donations make up a growing portion of our budget each year and allow us to do even more expansive reporting on early childhood, K-12 and higher ed. In fact, our budget now depends on your support. We need to raise $30,000 from members before the end of the year, every dollar of which will be matched.
We are once again part of the NewsMatch campaign to support nonprofit news, so every dollar you pledge (up to $1,000) will be doubled. We stand to earn $20,000 from NewsMatch with your help. But our board knew we could do better, so they've pledged an additional $10,000 of their own money if you can match it. With your help then, we stand to raise $60,000 towards our mission by December 31.
