Friend: Donald Trump's corruption extends far beyond his tumultuous years in the White House. His business dealings are also rife with wrongdoing, which is why the Manhattan District Attorney AND New York Attorney General have been actively investigating the Trump Organization – including whether the former president lied about his assets to avoid paying millions in taxes.
The walls may be closing in on the former president. His one-time "fixer" and lawyer, Michael Cohen – who admitted to violating campaign laws at the direction of Trump to influence the 2016 election – has said that "I can assure you that Donald Trump is guilty of his own crimes" and that prosecutors in New York could "indict Donald Trump tomorrow if they really wanted."
In addition to having likely manipulated his assets for the purpose of cheating our nation's tax system, more evidence comes out by the week about how Trump, his family, and associates were instrumental in inciting the deadly insurrection on our Capitol. Whether he occupies a corporate board room or the Oval Office, everything Donald Trump does is designed to help one person at any cost: himself.
Even so, the Republican Party continues to consolidate around Trump. They are paying homage to him at his Mar-a-Lago resort, with some auditioning as his potential running mate for 2024. They are making threats in Congress to prevent the full truth about Jan. 6 from coming out. And we must never forget: A majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives – including many of my counterparts in the Senate – objected to certifying our free and fair election results for Joe Biden.
That's why it's incumbent upon concerned Democrats like us to ensure Donald Trump is held accountable and never steps foot near the Oval Office again. So before 11:59 p.m. tonight, I need 728 more of you to make your voices heard and let me know where you stand:
Should criminal charges be considered for Donald Trump if investigators find evidence of wrongdoing?
