Working parents have been receiving monthly payments as part of the expanded Child Tax Credit that I passed earlier this year. I’ve been fighting to extend this program that’s already helped 1 million Colorado kids and kept 3 million kids out of poverty nationwide.
If we don’t extend this program, parents will receive their last monthly payment today.
Food insecurity dropped by 24% for families because of this tax credit. 3.3 million fewer people with kids went hungry after we implemented the program; adults with children who reported not having enough to eat fell by about 1/3.
As one Colorado Springs parent told us: “We have stopped living paycheck to paycheck.”
I’ve secured a one-year extension of this tax cut in the Build Back Better Act, which we’re now trying to pass in the Senate.
As I work to get this done, I have to ask, will you take a moment to sign your name in support of further extending Child Tax Credit monthly payments?
Add your voice today, so I can show just how many people support us extending this tax cut for working families.
Thanks for your continued support,
Michael
