Dear Friend,
I’m writing this email on a Wednesday as I wrap my first three weeks in Parliament alongside Elizabeth.
On my first day in Ottawa, someone made a comment to me that has come back to me many times. Upon being introduced to another MP, they said: “I’m glad you’re here. Greens are the conscience of this place.”
In just three weeks, I’ve seen this play out. I’ve witnessed Elizabeth interjecting to call for more respectful discourse, and for action on the climate emergency that keeps the possibility of 1.5 °C alive.
Personally, with Elizabeth’s support and encouragement, I’ve already jumped in just about as many times as the previous MP for Kitchener Centre did - in the entire 43rd Parliament! I’ve been able to advocate for my neighbours, and people across the country, on topics ranging from ending fossil fuel subsidies, to building new co-op housing, to saving lives by decriminalizing illicit drugs. Each time, I’m doing so assertively, but respectfully. Each day, I’m getting to know more of my colleagues, their priorities, and areas we can work together on.
All of this, because of supporters like yourself.

I know, as you all do, it’s been a difficult year. And yet, I’m feeling optimistic.
Because of our wonderful, courageous interim leader. They are leading with love and making an early impact.
Because of our revitalized Federal Council, who I’m excited to see focused on rebuilding efforts.
And, because of you.
Because I saw it happen in Kitchener: thanks to thousands of people that believed it was possible, we went from 3% of the vote in 2015 to winning the riding this last time around.
Together, I know we can win more ridings across the country.
And in doing so, we will bring more Green voices and perspectives, along with a collaborative, respectful approach to our Parliament.
With appreciation,
