Looking ahead to 2022…

The next legislative session is around the corner (starts January 10! 👀). Be prepared – register now for our Annual MLK Lobby Day on January 17! [link removed]

Earlier this year, we participated in the state’s first ever virtual legislative session. From January to April we e-mailed our lawmakers, called in to testify on smart phones and laptops, and signed in “pro” at online hearings to show our support. Navigating the online session didn’t stop us from getting the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) updated and fully funded, an increase to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash grant, and HUGE investments in housing and food, and cash assistance for immigrant families.

And now it looks like we will be advocating online again this session.

Based on the stories and feedback we’ve heard from people most impacted by economic injustice across the state, we are focusing our policy work this session on the following:
• Meeting Basic Needs
• Providing Cash Assistance
• Expanding Dental Care Access
• Strengthening Safety & Civil Rights
• Removing Barriers to Re-entry
