Senate to Vote on Build Back Better

The Senate is slated to vote on the Build Back Better Plan late this month or early next year. This plan contains critical and transformational affordable housing investments that will support California and the nation with increased access to safe and stable housing, as well as renter assistance.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for NPH’s Annual Holiday Member Party!

The NPH community gave a warm welcome to our new board members: Chris Iglesias (The Unity Council) and Cindy Wu (Bay Area LISC)! We also said farewell and thank you to our exiting board members Matt Schwartz (President, California Housing Partnership) and Joshua Simon (Senior Advisor, Community Arts Stabilization Trust).

NPH is accepting host agency applications for the 2022-2023 Bay Area Housing Internship (BAHIP) program until Friday, January 21, 2022, at 5pm.

If you have already hosted an intern before, please use this form instead

As 2021 comes to a close, NPH is excited for our initial trainings and events in the new year!

Further your involvement with the affordable housing movement with these upcoming opportunities:

  • Join one (or all) of our working groups! NPH convenes working groups to bring together members to take action, develop strategies, and advance solutions on critical affordable housing issues. Look out for details soon on this upcoming opportunity:
    • Legislative Issues Working Group Meeting: Thursday, January 13 (9:30-11:30am)

  • Shift the Bay: Start off a new year of movement-building with the next event in our Shift the Bay Communications Series: Having Tough Conversations with Reporters, taking place Wednesday, January 26 (12PM - 1:30PM PST)! This training will explore tactics to correct and constructively improve a reporter’s news coverage to advance housing and racial justice.
     
  • Save the Date: Our Annual Affordable Housing Leadership Awards is taking place Thursday, April 28, 2022! Look out for emails with all the details and registration soon.

Opportunity: Apply for the Equitable Community Revitalization Grant The California Department of Toxic Substance Control is introducing the Equitable Community Revitalization Grant. Set a new path for land use that will have immediate and lasting benefits, such as recreational uses (parks and other green spaces), commercial enterprises and housing.
