Dear John,
I was excited recently to meet with members of the Painters' Union in Big Bend, speak with supporters in Sheboygan Falls, and join a candidate forum with the Oregon Area Progressives.
I’m with IUPAT DC 7 – I’m tired of politicians claiming they support workers, then backing big corporations and other special interests. We need to fundamentally change the business model of politics.
I got to tour the training center and meet delegates of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 (IUPAT DC 7). DC 7 represents 2,400 painters, glazers, and trade show workers across Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, fighting for safer work sites and better benefits for workers. I reflected with DC 7 members on the power of unions – as the son of a former unionized public employee, I know workers, families, and our communities do better with a dignified living, guaranteed healthcare, and safe working conditions.
Supporters in Oregon and Sheboygan Falls
The room was electric for our campaign stops at Nourish Farms in Sheboygan Falls and the Kickback Cafe in Oregon. I got to connect with voters on our shared commitment to making our food system more sustainable and to expand the electorate by building an inclusive movement for our democracy.
I am heartened by the support of not only Democrats, but also Independents and disaffected Republicans across Wisconsin. Together, we can change the way we do politics and ensure dignity for all.
Help grow this grassroots movement – please consider donating to our campaign.
