Millions of us see what is happening to representative democracy in this country—repressive voter laws that exclude swaths of eligible voters or valid methods of voting; baseless lies around election security used to justify the next coup attempt by Trump and his allies; and constant gaslighting, disinformation, and resentment fueled by right wing media, FoxNews, and social media, in particular Facebook.
But many Americans don't see this. They see something different: a vision of America under attack by deranged, corrupt, wasteful Democrats looking to implement cultural change by legislative fiat.
One of these is accurate, the other completely false and fabricated. What do we do?
We simply must invest in year-round organizing and outreach in every community—urban and rural, white, Black, Latino, Asian American...everyone who calls America home. And the message needs to be simple, concise, and speaking to the heart of the experience of working people.
