Friend,
When House Democrats passed the Raise the Wage Act this week, they passed it to a Senate chamber with 53 Republicans whose corporate donors will fight tooth and nail to keep wages down for 40 million workers — despite most Americans agreeing that people need $15 per hour to get by.

The hard truth is that this bill isn’t going to pass until we flip the Senate. That’s why I need your help.

I’m not accepting a penny of corporate PAC money, which means sending emails like this to supporters like you is one of the primary ways we can raise money. Will you chip in $15 today to support a $15 minimum wage, getting corporate PAC money out of our politics, and helping us flip the U.S. Senate in 2020? [[link removed]]

This Wednesday will mark the ten year anniversary of the minimum wage rising to $7.25 per hour. We’ve heard the stories of workers who have two or three jobs and still can’t get by.

David Perdue has raised over $1.6 million from PACs since he was first elected. That means more accountability to PACs than the people he’s been elected to represent. And that has framed his entire set of priorities since he got to Washington, including opposing this bill.

My mom worked for 40 years in the meat department of grocery stores like A&P and Kroger. She was a proud union member, and we were able to get by, but earning a wage of $7.25 per hour, or even $2.13 for the so-called “tipped minimum”, is not enough for people today – not even close.
We cannot afford to waste six more years with David Perdue’s distractions: blocking legislation to raise the minimum wage, failing to enact comprehensive immigration reform, or falling behind on the many other issues actively being made worse by Republican policies.

You shouldn’t be able to take money from corporate PACs and then vote to protect their interests over those of working class people. That’s why I’m rejecting corporate PAC money and asking you to be the force powering our campaign. Chip in $15 to help me defeat David Perdue today. [[link removed]]

Thank you for supporting elections with integrity.
Yours truly,
Teresa
