Dear John,
Last month, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) was a
disappointment. While the Glasgow Climate Pact calls on countries to
“phase-down unabated coal” and “phase-out inefficient subsidies for
fossil fuels”, it’s obvious that allowing the fossil fuel industry the
have the largest delegation at these climate negotiations [3] is why they
continue to fall short of what needs to happen: the complete phase out of
all polluting infrastructure and fossil fuel subsidies, and reinvestment of
that money into a Just Transition for communities and workers.
Donate today so we can continue to uplift grassroots voices
in the international arena!
For nearly a decade, Climate Justice Alliance has been holding a pivotal
role in bringing the voices of people most impacted by the climate crisis
to these conferences and demanding strong international agreements that
protect and benefit precious biodiversity and natural systems of Mother
Earth, as well as those communities who have faced the brunt of climate
change and its causes.
This year we staged protests and actions inside and outside COP26 [4] to
make sure these demands were heard by negotiators because, in this crisis
decade, there's no time left for half baked plans that bring incremental
change, continue to perpetuate harm, and concentrate corporate control.
Without grassroots leaders at COP26 demanding climate justice, the fossil
fuel industry’s influence would have been even worse.
Please donate today so we can continue to uplift grassroots voices in the
international arena. [5]
