Hi John,

I hope this finds you well even in the midst of the chaos and frequent changes in our lives. With your kids at home, have you found yourself asking this question more often, “Why doesn’t my son listen to me?”  Have you ever wrestled with this?

You are not alone. As a counselor, I have talked to several mothers that lament how their sweet baby boy has become argumentative and difficult.

Your son is a combination of unbridled emotions and unbelievable potential. You love him so much! He has tremendous talent and ability mixed with his own growing opinions and expanding worldview, but you wonder if he will ever grow into a healthy, mature man that loves, follows and serves in God’s kingdom.

This is a question for a lot of parents, especially moms.

With a teenage son at home, my wife, Heather, can relate.

They are sometimes hard to motivate. You can’t always understand their thoughts or actions. They are more apt to disagree than ever before.

Keep in mind that boys can be even more difficult to parent when not using maternal love, wisdom, and respect.

How you see your son, and talk to him, has a significant effect on how he thinks and acts. But be encouraged, moms still have tremendous and incredible influence on their sons, especially when they learn the importance of respect.

That’s why we have created a FREE series of five short videos called “Recognizing Your Son’s Need for Respect.” It is designed to help you understand how moms unlock the secret (and the power) of respect. And it explains how showing respect, rather than shaming, yelling, or badgering, will serve to motivate and guide your son well.

In each short video, relationship expert Dr. Emerson Eggerichs and Focus on the Family president, Jim Daly, discuss the biblical power of respect and how to use it wisely, even in those moments when tensions between you and your son are high.

Here are the topics for each video in the series:

Video #1 – “The Love and Respect Principle”
Video #2 – “How Does Respect Change Your Son?”
Video #3 – “Moving Beyond Yelling, Tears, and Regret”
Video #4 – “Learning the Vocabulary of Respect”
Video #5 – “Words and the Power of Unconditional Respect”

After you sign up, you will receive the first video right away. Then, we will send you the following videos in the series approximately every two days. In addition to each video, you will also receive discussion questions and additional resources to help take your learning a step further!

This is a great chance to grow in your parenting and your relationship with your son.

“May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”
