Dear AFGE Family,
Our entire AFGE family extends our sincerest condolences to the friends, family members, and coworkers of all those who lost their lives during the past weekend’s devastating storms and tornadoes that touched down in six states across the South and Midwest. We are lifting up in reflection everyone who has been affected by these disasters.
For anyone who may need financial assistance recovering from these events please consider applying for a relief grant through the Federal Employee Education and Assistance (FEEA) Fund.
The AFGE Disaster Relief Fund
partners with FEEA, which has helped government workers with disaster relief
and scholarship funds since 1986.
We encourage our AFGE community to also donate to this fund so we can continue to help our fellow union members in their time of need.
In the midst of disaster we are encouraged by the work of our FEEA and OSHA members that help to provide disaster relief and investigate the loss of workers on the job. We are troubled by reports from workers that there were insufficient emergency protocols in place to keep them safe during severe weather events. This is certainly another example of why workers must have a voice on the job to advocate for health and safety policies that put employee safety at the forefront.
We will continue to offer our support to those in our union family that have been affected by these deadly storms.
In Solidarity,
Dr. Everett Kelley
AFGE National President
