Government is slipping in a quiet takeover of day care and preschool into their monstrous Build Back Better spending bill.

📈A newly released study from Casey Mulligan, a University of Chicago professor and former chief economist at the White House Council for Economic Affairs, found that Biden’s Build Back Better bill could actually build back worse — and could lead middle-class Americans to pay as much as 122% more for child care.

The shocking price tag for families and for taxpayers isn’t even the worst aspect of the proposal. Families should be just as alarmed at the idea that the federal government would be setting the rules ([link removed]) and effectively deciding who can teach at American childcare centers and what can be taught. This needs to be stopped.

** The Pointless Exercise of Executive Branch Reports ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
When it comes to the Supreme Court, President Biden got what he wanted: news coverage that he understands a “problem,” is considering solutions, and empathizes with people who are frustrated with the Court. But like Biden’s gender strategy report, the very long and dry report by the “President’s Commission on the Supreme Court ([link removed]) " will go into a trash can somewhere on the first floor of the West Wing, never to be cracked open again. Or, at least, let’s hope so. Learn more. ([link removed])

** 39-Year-high Inflation Rocks American Households in November ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released new data on inflation for the month of November and the news is deeply troubling. The White House is downplaying the 39-year high inflation ([link removed]) and sympathetic left-leaning economists are gaslighting, calling the stories from real Americans false or overblown. They are more worried about poll numbers and agendas than eroding wage gains for workers and reduced family budgets. Learn more. ([link removed])

** Stop the Government Takeover of Day Care and Preschool ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Those who want government bureaucrats and school unions — not parents — in charge of what children are taught have been quietly busy. They are slipping in a government takeover of day care and preschool into their reckless Build Back Better spending bill.

This is NOT the vehicle or the way to radically transform an entire system that’s responsible for helping children develop, grow, and learn. Sign the petition. Then spread the word in your community — and warn your local private preschool and daycare center about these looming threats.

Lia Thomas, a swimmer on the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team, has been making waves in and out of the pool. The senior, who previously competed for the Penn men’s team before coming out as transgender, recently shattered women’s records ([link removed]) at Penn in the 200m and 500m freestyle. Although the University has reportedly instructed swimmers not to speak to the press, at least two of Thomas’s teammates have spoken out anonymously, describing Penn swimmers as “upset and crying” at a recent meet because of perceived unfairness. How much do you know about transgender athletes and equal opportunity for women?

Can you identify which of the following statements is not true?

A. Federal law requires schools to provide equal athletic opportunities for males and females.
B. Without separate men’s and women’s sports, female athletes wouldn’t have the same athletic opportunities as men.
C. Allowing transgender women to participate in women’s sports won’t negatively affect athletes who were born female.

** Ending Family Separation ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The president’s “Task Force on the Reunification of Families” has put out a nationwide call for suggestions on how to “minimize the separation of migrant parents and legal guardians and children.” In one sense, this is a media spectacle designed to generate tired orange-man-bad media coverage. The Zero Tolerance policy ended in 2018; shall we move on to governing the country?

IWF storyteller and brave mom of three Denise Ladson Johnson testified before Congress on the learning loss her children suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic — a far too common issue facing America’s students. The hearing, entitled “Growing our Economy by Investing in Families,” examined the link between federal investments in families and economic growth.
