Friends -
If we're truly going to save lives, community gun violence prevention has to be part of the focus.
Congress should fund evidence-based violence intervention programs, and we're excited that Senator Cory Booker and Representative Steven Horsford are introducing a bill that does exactly that.
The bill is called the Break the Cycle of Violence Act and it'll invest $90 million a year for 10 years in strategies like group violence intervention, street outreach, and hospital-based violence intervention programs that are proven to save lives. These approaches helped Oakland cut homicides in half since 2012.
Legislation like this is incredibly important, but you can bet it will face resistance from NRA Republicans like Mitch McConnell.
That's why we need you to do something important:
Will you add your name to support the Break the Cycle of Violence Act and our work to pressure NRA-backed Republicans to make this bill law?

Solving our country's gun violence epidemic can't happen until we address the violence that rarely makes the news.
It's past time we gave leaders in the neighborhoods most impacted the resources and support they need to stop violence in their communities.
This bill will accomplish that. Now we just need Congress to do their job and make it a reality.
So add your name today and let's get to work:
