Hello Friend,

You may remember Power Design, Inc. - DC Jobs with Justice began investigating the Florida-based company in 2017 after numerous claims of wage theft and payroll fraud, resulting in a 2020 decision forcing Power Design to pay a $2.75 million settlement for violating DC wage theft and worker misclassification laws, including $879,056 in restitution for 500 affected workers.

Around the same time, Power Design workers told us that the company was also using unlicensed electricians. DC JwJ filed a complaint with DCRA, and after a 13 month investigation they produced a 145 page report validating these workers' claims and proving that Power Design continues to violate local licensing laws and endanger the community by repeatedly hiring unlicensed electricians for high-hazard projects in DC.

Unexpectedly, in October 2020 the DC Board of Industrial Trades dismissed this investigation with no explanation, no discussion, and no communication to DC JwJ.

DC deserves safe workplaces and safe buildings, and leaders who support people over profit.
