17 million acres of forests could be razed to the ground.
FOREST ALERT:
Trump is trying to clear-cut the Tongass National Forest — the largest National Forest and rainforest in the United States. This is an outrageous attack on Indigenous sovereignty and our forests. The public comment period is open for a short period — submit an urgent public comment to STOP Trump's disastrous plan.
Friend — If Trump has his way, huge swathes of our largest intact temperate rainforest could soon be nothing more than a desolate field.
Trump just released a horrifying plan to roll back what's called Roadless Rule protections, effectively opening Alaska's Tongass National Forest to unprecedented logging and development projects. Logging companies could soon raze this 17 million-acre forest to the ground — releasing vast amounts of carbon as old-growth trees are destroyed.
What's more: This plan is yet another attack from the Trump administration on Indigenous rights. Alaskan Native communities — including the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples — have depended on the Tongass Rainforest for millennia. It is the backbone to their culture, traditions, and communities — we simply cannot let it disappear.
Trump and his cronies in the Forest Service are trying to sweep this sellout under the rug and move forward without major public backlash. We can't let them. We must stand in solidarity with the Alaskan Native communities leading the fight to protect the Tongass and overwhelm the U.S. Forest Service with public comments in opposition to the sellout. The comment period is only open until December 17, so we can't wait a second to act. Will you join thousands of other LCV supporters in the fight for Tongass now?
