Hello Team,
I just got off the floor after voting to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress for his outright refusal to cooperate with the January 6th Committee's subpoenas.
Trump's former Chief of Staff is trying to claim that "executive privilege" prevents him from speaking to the committee, a legally debunked attempt to hide criminally damning evidence that will make it even more clear that Trump, Meadows, and their crew of Republican thugs and grifters were involved in the planning, organizing, and execution of the attempted insurrection on January 6th.
Just yesterday, the Committee exposed thousands of damning documents from Meadows, including texts and emails from his personal accounts that not only show his involvement in planning the insurrection on January 6th, but frantic pleas from Republican lawmakers, Fox News hosts, and even the President's son Don Jr. (daddy's "got to condemn this sh*t ASAP"), begging Meadows to step-in and have Trump denounce the rioters and call an end to the political violence - which he didn't.
Even if Meadows and his Republican counterparts now downplay or pretend they don't remember what happened or who was responsible for January 6th, we will never forget. And when Meadows testifies to Congress - or sits in a jail cell for failing to - we will be continuing on our journey for accountability for what happened that day, justice for those who lost their lives, and restoration for the crumbling pillars of our democracy.
But if Republicans take control of the House in 2022, we can kiss the January 6th Commission, accountability, justice, and democracy goodbye. I am asking for your support so we can end 2021 strong and enter the New Year with the renewed confidence and determination to get to the bottom of the darkest day in our democracy.
