Hi John, it’s Erica Smith — I am a three-term North Carolina State Senator, a pastor, an engineer, a mother of four, and I have exciting news to share with you:
I’m officially running for the U.S. House to represent North Carolina’s 2nd District.
Let me tell you a little bit about why I’m running for the U.S. House. Our moral movement has never been about winning one campaign, or winning a particular office. It’s been about service, and showing up where we’re needed.
I grew up in this district. I live in this district. I represented most of the communities in this district. This is my home.
Just as my community has always been there for me in my times of need, I'm going to be there for my community in its time of need.

We're going to continue the fight for a brighter future for rural North Carolina. I've won in a racially gerrymandered district before — and I'm ready to do it again. I've represented over half of these counties in the state senate, and I’ve never lost an election here.
I've lived the struggles facing so many families across this district, I understand where we are, the challenges we're facing, and the kind of representation we need right now.
