As a military Veteran and father to twin 4th graders, passing Purple Star Campuses last year was probably my proudest moment. It's a designation for military-friendly schools and a way for transitioning military families to find and unlock the best education possible for their kids while serving here in the Sunshine State.

As an update, the legislation passed and was signed by the Governor. Tomorrow, the Department of Education has a rule-making meeting to discuss the details of its implementation. You can submit a comment for their consideration by clicking here.

The devil of all things is in the details. I would suggest if you are willing to make a comment, that we keep school letter grades out of the formula for qualification. Letter grades are already widely used when considering schools and I want ALL schools to be eligible (not just rich suburban schools in affluent areas) as long as they go out of their way to help our military families.

Thank you again for your support in getting me here and helping me get this across the finish line and now into implementation.

This is what I campaigned on, and I'm proud to be getting things done for our Veterans and their families.
