John, this is huge: last night, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection unanimously recommended that Mark Meadows be held in criminal contempt.
Meadows, ex-President Trump’s chief of staff who could know firsthand how involved Trump was in the deadly attack, refused to appear for a deposition with the Committee last week. Now, the full House will vote on Meadows’ fate -- and if these members of Congress side with the Committee, Meadows could face a massive fine or even jail time.
Sign the Petition: Mark Meadows is not above the law. The House must vote to hold him in criminal contempt if he refuses to help uncover the truth >>
You may remember Meadows as Trump’s right-hand man throughout his presidency. He also helped to spread Trump’s dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election -- even though in his personal text messages, he was very skeptical about them. [1]
Meadows’ sworn testimony could contain game-changing information. He reportedly sent an email the day before the insurrection stating that the National Guard would be used to defend Trump supporters -- and he regularly worked with party insiders after the election to help replace Joe Biden’s electors with ones who would support Trump.
But if the House lets Meadows put himself above the law and ignore lawful subpoenas, we may never know what role he and Trump played in the insurrection.
Add your name if you agree: The House must vote to hold Meadows in criminal contempt -- sending a strong message to anyone who may try to interfere with this investigation.
John, we deserve the truth. We deserve to know everything that happened during and leading up to that horrific day -- and every person who helped incite or coordinate the attack must be held accountable.
I hope you’ll join me in speaking out today,
