John,
Over the weekend, numerous states were hit by a devastating tornado.
In Kentucky, the death toll has increased to more than 80 and many more are still missing.
We are thinking of every person impacted by this disaster and hope that you’ll take a moment to sign up to help with any tornado relief efforts here.
Following the disaster, Senator Rand Paul requested that President Biden “move expeditiously” and send federal disaster aid to Kentucky… but Paul himself has previously voted against aid for people after numerous natural disasters, including Hurricanes Sandy, Harvey, and Maria.
So, in typical Republican fashion, Rand Paul has no issue requesting federal aid when his state is impacted, but he’ll oppose any aid for other states recovering from disasters.
The dissemination of federal aid shouldn’t be limited to states that politicians pick and choose; every community impacted by a disaster deserves help when they are in need.
But if Rand Paul were to have his way, only his community would get help from the federal government while everyone else would get left behind.
The solution is clear: We must Flip the South, elect Charles Booker, and beat Rand Paul in 2022. But Flipping the South won’t happen without you: Will you make a donation of $15 or more right now to help us successfully take on Rand Paul and Flip the South?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
In Kentucky, we are supporting Charles Booker and Attica Scott because we understand that Kentucky and the entire south will flip if we just organize and activate voters that have been left behind.
If money were no object, we would have staffers on the ground today, registering voters and knocking doors in every state. We'd be exposing Republicans for their hypocrisy while promoting our progressive vision for the future.
We must build the organizing infrastructure needed to Flip the South and we know that with the resources to do it, the dream of flipping the South will become a reality.
Will you contribute today to help us build up our organizing infrastructure in Kentucky and the rest of the South?
Natural disasters are not going away. In fact, unless we take serious, drastic action now they will only get worse. Every year more families will lose loved ones, homes, and possessions. We have to Flip the South and elect people that will begin moving our nation forward.
Thank you so much for your continued support of DFA's work. Keep believing and dreaming.
