&ldquo;There is no one I know that is more passionate about caregiving,&rdquo; said the vice president of ADvancing States in honoring Susan C. Reinhard, RN, PhD, FAAN. The organization, which represents the nation&rsquo;s agencies on aging and long-term services, recognized Reinhard&mdash;who is chief strategist for the Campaign for Action and also director of AARP Public Policy Institute, where she leads family caregiving initiatvies&mdash;with the 2021 Dr. Jeanette Takamura Caregiving Award.

New Center Focuses on Gaps in School Nursing Science
School nursing research is in its infancy, writes Erin Maughan PhD, RN, FAAN, on the Campaign blog. &ldquo;In order to move it forward, we need targeted, coordinated efforts that address foundational questions,&rdquo; she says, laying out some proposed answers as well. Maughan helped found the Center for School Health Innovation & Quality to further research.

Nurse Among Those Honored With Purpose Prize
Ify Nwabukwu BSN, RN, is among five 2021 AARP Purpose Prize winners who will be honored in a virtual ceremony that&rsquo;s open to the public. The Maryland nurse seeks to reduce the burden of cancer on African immigrant women. Among others saluted on December 15 will be Michael J. Fox, for his work supporting efforts to find a cure for Parkinson&rsquo;s.

If you&rsquo;re a nurse new to a senior executive role, consider applying for the AONL Nurse Executive Fellowship. The nine-month program includes mentoring sessions with expert faculty staff members, dialogue with peers, experiential simulation methodology, and more, to guide leaders in addressing the challenges that nurse executives face. The Office of Minority Health offers its Minority Leaders Development Program, a one-year residential fellowship program in the D.C. area aiming to develop and support future federal leaders in public health and health equity. The residential fellowship, sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Resources, starts in July 2022. Deadline: December 17.

Loans Repaid for RNs Who Go Where Need Is Greatest
If you&rsquo;re a nurse with an outstanding educational loan, consider applying for the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program, offered to those who make a two-year commitment to meet the health care needs in underserved communities. Also sought are those who agree to serve as nurse faculty. The Health Resources and Services Administration program explains more at its December 1 webinar. Deadline: January 13.

Schools of Nursing: Apply for Loans to Offer Future Faculty
To increase the number of nurses, the U.S. must expand the roster of those who can teach. That&rsquo;s why the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services&rsquo; Nurse Faculty Loan Program offers funds to schools of nursing with advanced education nursing programs&mdash;so they in turn can offer loans to students enrolled in advanced education nursing degree programs. Johnson & Johnson knows that health technology is critical to the transformations called for in the Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report. In response, J&J joins the American Nursing Informatics Association and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership in this year&rsquo;s Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge, dubbed &ldquo;Healthcare Transformation Through Nurse-led Tech.&rdquo; On the line: up to $100,000 in grant funding. American Red Cross Seeks Volunteers
The American Red Cross has put out a call for volunteers, listing its &ldquo;most-needed volunteer opportunities&rdquo; in shelters, disaster health services, blood collection support, and disaster action teams.
