Team,
Nine years ago today, we lost twenty-six students and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary.
To honor the 26 students and teachers murdered that day, I am working to honor with action by passing meaningful gun safety legislation that will save lives and prevent horrors like this from ever happening again.
Earlier this year, I introduced the Assault Weapons Ban into the House. Assault weapons, like the one that took the lives of the twenty-six children and educators at Sandy Hook, are weapons of war and do not belong in our communities. The Assault Weapons Ban will prohibit the sale, transfer, manufacture and importation of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Today, nine years after this tragic mass shooting, we have almost nothing to show for the time passed. I invite you to join me in honoring the victims of Sandy Hook with action by signing my petition demanding Congressional action on the Assault Weapons Ban now.
I will continue to work to honor all victims and survivors of gun violence with action. Thank you for joining me today.
