Dear John,
When we launched our Tiger Campaign 25 years ago, we believed that wild tigers were close to extinction.
On the positive side, since 2010, the global wild tiger population has risen from 3,200 to 4,000.
However, during the last 12 years, wild tigers have become extinct in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. Over 8,000 captive tigers are being kept in brutal conditions in tiger ‘farms’ across China and South-East Asia. And demand for tiger products shows no sign of slowing.
Although things are far from perfect, we have made a difference by being tenacious, being the voice that speaks truth to power, and acting as catalysts for change.
Thanks to your generous support, and working with our local partners, we are:
- Campaigning against ‘backyard’ tiger breeding in Vietnam.
- Putting the spotlight on Thai ‘zoos’ that trade in tiger parts illegally.
- Developing a database of unique tiger stripe patterns to help identify poached and trafficked tigers.
Please donate today to help us keep fighting for a better future for the world’s tigers.
By supporting us, you can help us carry on our vital undercover work, share our expertise in combatting the illegal wildlife trade, and keep up the pressure on the world’s governments to save tigers from extinction.
