Friend -- The historic voting rates in 2020 -- especially among young people of color -- were a huge accomplishment. And it didn’t happen overnight. Democrats organized their communities across the country, reaching out to those who have been disenfranchised, and turned out at the polls in record numbers. This was a big deal -- but now, congressional Republicans and Republican-controlled state legislatures are working to ensure it never happens again. So far in 2021, 19 states have enacted 33 anti-voting laws, and every single Republican representative is letting them get away with it. Nothing less than the very future of our democracy is at stake. The campaign they’re waging now will have impacts for years to come -- which means we don’t have a minute to waste. We need to abolish the filibuster and pass comprehensive voter protections now. Our democracy is stronger because of the diverse coalition of voters we’ve built, and I’m committed to ensuring every one of them is able to cast their ballot again in 2022 and beyond.
