Hey John -- I'm Shelbi, Laura's new campaign manager!
I didn't join this campaign because I thought Laura's re-election would be easy. I joined because I know Laura is the right leader to continue to move Kansas forward. And her record speaks for itself. Under Laura's leadership Kansas has a growing economy, a fully funded public school system, and a balanced state budget.
Laura's race is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive gubernatorial races in the whole country. It's going to be an uphill battle, especially since national Republicans have their sights set on defeating Laura in 2022.
That's why I'm hitting the ground running with an urgent request: our last mid-month fundraising deadline of the year is tomorrow at midnight. Will you make a donation of $5 or more right away to ensure we can re-elect Laura in 2022?
A big part of my job is ensuring this campaign has the resources to spread Laura's message to voters in every corner of the state -- meeting them face-to-face, over the phone, or through our email and online advertising programs.
But here's the deal: we risk losing all the progress we've made under Laura's administration if her opponent and his extreme special interest allies defeat us in 2022. This is a race that could easily come down to who is able to raise more money, plain and simple. So, we're counting on our best supporters to help us continue to fund this campaign.
