In 2022, Republicans only need to flip FIVE seats to win the majority in the House of Representatives.

And they’re willing to do whatever it takes to win those five seats, John. Across the country, far-right legislators have gerrymandered congressional maps to shut Democrats out of power. They tried it here in North Carolina, too.

Republicans know that their best shot at winning isn’t running on the issues — it’s giving their voters more of a voice than others.

In just about two weeks, it’ll be an election year once again (we can hardly believe it either). And Roy is committed to spending every spare minute of it working to support Democratic candidates here in North Carolina — because he knows that having a Democratic governor alone isn’t enough.

Our Democratic leaders in Washington are key partners to Roy’s work here in North Carolina.

Just after President Biden took office, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan to pull communities back from the brink during this pandemic. More recently, they approved an infrastructure plan that delivered nearly $9 billion to improve our state’s roads and highways, broadband networks, and more.

But there’s more work to be done — work that won’t happen if Republicans take back the House.

Meanwhile, North Carolina’s GOP legislators have done all they can to gerrymander our congressional maps so that they’re guaranteed to win at least 70% of our House seats. So far, those clearly partisan maps have been held up by GOP appointees in the courts.

But we can’t get complacent, John. We can’t assume that we’ll succeed in getting new maps approved before the midterms.
