Until every veteran has an ID...
Dear Friends,
We know it can be difficult to confront the harsh reality that so many veterans are living without an ID and all they must forego as a result. But it's a truth that too often goes undiscussed. And we feel obligated to bring it to light for veterans like Bryan.

Bryan is a homeless veteran who relocated to Florida because the weather is better for him and his mental health (he granted permission to share that he struggles with PTSD). When he met our colleagues at Spread The Vote, he was applying for disability and needed an ID to receive the payments if approved. Bryan also needed an ID to get his Patriot Passport transit card, which he did immediately after getting his ID. Bryan had no way to get to the DMV so Spread The Vote paid for a cab there and gave him a bus pass to get back. They also bought him lunch. Food excluded, Bryan's ID cost $40.
What about all of the veterans who can't find help like Bryan did? Getting an ID entails more than money but the cost itself puts it out of reach for so many. That's why we've chosen to advocate for #FreeIDsForVets. We hope you will, too.

Gratefully,
