Hello,

This week's edition will discuss identifying your problems, Islam and the possibilities of peace, and agreeableness.

** Slay the Dragon
------------------------------------------------------------
People are often loath to figure out precisely where they are. They don’t want to know because they’d rather be spread out, in a half-blind manner—in the fog—hoping that the place that they’re at is better than it is, and deluding themselves by remaining vague; rather than trying to figure out, “I’m right here, right now, with these specific problems”.

But it’s better to do that because If you have a set of specific problems and you narrow them down and specify them, then you can start fixing them, and you can start fixing them incrementally.

Slay the dragon in his lair before he comes to your village.

Islam and the Possibilities of Peace | The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast - S4E66: Mohammed Hijab

This episode was recorded on November 10th, 2021. In this podcast, philosopher Mohammed Hijab joined me to discuss a wide array of topics, such as the traditionalist interpretation of Islam, its metanarrative, the story of the prophet Muhammad, and some common ground among monotheistic Abrahamic religions.

Mohammed Hijab is an author and philosopher whose main interests lie in political philosophy, philosophy of religion, and comparative religion. He seeks to spread a better understanding of traditionalist Islam while engaging with prominent thinkers and philosophers worldwide.

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson:

"The Divine spark is embodied virtue that is in some sense reflective of the highest value, operating at a local scale."

Mohammed Hijab:

“The word Islam does not mean peace, it means submission. Islam believes that everything in the universe submits to God."

Too Nice? Rejected | Jordan B. Peterson

Dr. Peterson:

"The typical complaint of someone agreeable is, “I do so much for other people, and they seem to do so little for me.” If you feel that way, there’s a reasonable probability that you’re agreeable, or there’s some probability that you’re too agreeable, and maybe you should stop being so easy to get along with.

On the other hand of distribution, we have the antagonistic and, well, if you are antagonistic enough, you could end up in prison. [Antagonism] is the best predictor of antisocial behaviour and seems to be associated with cold-blooded aggression rather than the reactive form, which would be more characteristic of negative emotion; neuroticism. People who are lower in agreeableness and higher in Antagonism are probably predatory."
