While members of the House return to their home districts for the week, the Senate remains in session. In addition to continuing its award-winning advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, NAFCU will also attend two events at the NCUA and CFPB focused on diversity and inclusion and small business data collection, respectively.


BSA Blast details actions to combat opioid trafficking, improve BSA info sharing [ [link removed] ]
A new edition of NAFCU's BSA Blast – in a new user-friendly digital format with direct links to each section – is now available on the association's website. The October issue takes a look at the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and FinCEN's recent actions targeting synthetic opioids and reviews the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) report on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) information sharing.


Despite GM strike, October jobs see gains [ [link removed] ]
Despite a General Motors strike that depressed the month's numbers, October's "job report was a solid one which supports [last] week's Fed decision of a hawkish rate cut," said NAFCU Chief Economist and Vice President of Research Curt Long. October saw 128,000 jobs added, and the September and August gains were revised up by 44,000 and 51,000 jobs, respectively.






NCUA selects 3 MDI CUs for mentoring grants [ [link removed] ]
The NCUA Friday announced that three minority depository institution (MDI) credit unions, including a NAFCU-member credit union, will receive a total of $74,875 in grants to establish mentoring programs as part of the agency's new pilot program.


CUs maximize lending portfolios at NAFCU conference [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU's sold out Lending Conference – kicking off today in Austin, Texas – will educate credit unions on ways to maximize their lending programs to effectively compete in today's marketplace.
