John —
The Innocence Project has been fighting to free wrongly convicted people for nearly three decades. That includes working to pass policies to keep innocent people out of prison in the first place and create a more just system.
Right now in New York, there are multiple bills that could help both reveal and prevent wrongful convictions in the state — and there are two ways you can show support.
1. On Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. ET, we’re holding a rally in New York City at the entrance to Central Park — on West 110th/Central Park N. between 5th Ave. and Malcolm X Blvd. — and we want you to be there. Exonerated Five members Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Kevin Richardson will be present along with exonerees Marty Tankleff and Derrick Hamilton and elected officials who support these reforms. Join us in calling for this package of bills to be passed this legislative session to help reveal and prevent wrongful convictions. Let us know you’ll make it by RSVPing and sharing to your networks on Facebook:

Not in New York City? No problem. Tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET we’re hosting a live, virtual conversation on the bills with exonerees Kevin Richardson, of the Exonerated Five, and Marty Tankleff, together with Innocence Project Policy Director Rebecca Brown, and moderated by New Yorker and actress Cree Cicchino. RSVP for the panel which will be live tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET on both the Innocence Project’s Facebook and Instagram accounts:

We look forward to seeing you this week and fighting together for the innocent in New York.
Thank you for your support,

Started in 1992 as a legal clinic at Cardozo School of Law, the Innocence Project is now an independent nonprofit, affiliated with Cardozo, that exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
