For nearly a decade, Republicans in the Wisconsin state legislature have refused to accept federal funding and expand Medicaid for over 91,000 Wisconsinites.

That means right now in Wisconsin, you can work a job bringing home just $13,000 a year and not qualify for affordable health care. That’s downright wrong, folks.

That’s why I’m fighting my heart out to pass the Build Back Better Act in the Senate this week, which includes my legislation to expand affordable health care for folks who have been shut out of Medicaid coverage in states like Wisconsin.

If you’re ready to fight with me, add your name to my petition demanding the Senate pass the Build Back Better Act and expand affordable health care for millions of Americans.

This issue is deeply personal to me. When I was young, I was diagnosed with a serious illness and spent months in the hospital.

But when I got better, my grandparents who raised me couldn’t find an insurance policy that would cover me. Not from any insurer. Not at any price. All because I was a child who had been labeled with those words: “pre-existing condition.”

I got into public service because I saw my grandparents stay up nights, worried sick that I would fall ill again and they wouldn't be able to afford my care. No one should ever have to go through that. That’s why I have spent my career fighting to protect and expand affordable health care for all Americans, and it’s why I’ll never back down.

We still have so much work to do to fight back against Republican attacks and bring affordable health care to every American. Our next step is passing the Build Back Better Act and expanding affordable health care in states like Wisconsin where state Republicans have refused to expand Medicaid. We have the majority to get this passed, and it’s time for Democrats to get it done.

If you’re with me, add your name to my petition demanding the Senate pass the Build Back Better Act this week and close the Medicaid coverage gap.
