This is exactly why we need more pro-choice Dem AGs in office.
Friend,
We can’t believe what far-right Republican AG Lynn Fitch is arguing before the Supreme Court:
But we know that for so many reasons, restricting access to safe abortion does the exact opposite of empowering pregnant people. What actually empowers our communities is making sure there’s access to safe and affordable abortion.
Here’s what is true about reproductive care in Mississippi and our country:
The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate of any developed country in the world, and AG Fitch’s home state of Mississippi is almost double the national average
The non-partisan organization March of Dimes gives Mississippi an “F” rating in maternal and infant health
Mississippi’s rates of infant mortality and child poverty are far higher than the national average
1 in 5 people of reproductive age in the Deep South are at risk of dying from giving birth
As it stands, there is currently just one abortion clinic in all of Mississippi. It supports mostly low-income Black patients, who would be disproportionately hurt by this ban
Extremist conservative AG Fitch’s policies won’t help children; they’ll put kids, parents, and patients who do not want to become parents at increased risk. That’s why we need pro-choice Dem AGs in office fighting against these overreaching policies and upholding the reproductive rights and bodily autonomy of all people.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in 2022, we need your support – will you chip in today?
