Dear John,

It will be the end of the year before we know it, and we are still waiting on the Senate to pass the Build Back Better Act (BBBA). That's why we will be joining the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) in their Anti-Hunger Community Day of Action tomorrow (12/14), urging the Senate to pass the bill. Every voice matters, so please take action with us to help get the BBBA across the finish line! It includes $10 billion for critical child nutrition provisions that will:
  • Expand the number of schools that would be able to offer free meals to all their students through the Community Eligibility Provision.
  • Give states the option to implement the Community Eligibility Provision statewide, allowing all students in the state to receive school breakfast and lunch at no charge.
  • Extend Summer EBT nationwide for students who receive free or reduced-price school meals.
  • Provide $30 million for school kitchen equipment grants.
  • Provide $250 million for a Healthy School Meal Incentives demonstration project.
In addition, the BBBA will also make the expiring Child Tax Credit (CTC) permanent. CTC payments have enabled families to afford essentials, like food. If Congress does not pass the BBBA, millions of families who relied on CTC payments will have that support taken away with the last payment scheduled for this week, December 15, 2021.

The House of Representatives has already passed the BBBA. Now it's time that the Senate does the same! Join us in taking action, and help us urge them to pass the BBBA with the current child nutrition provisions in place to help end hunger for all!

Tell your Senators to pass the BBBA with this easy, pre-written email from FRAC, or make your voice heard on social by tagging @GPCAHunger when tweeting Senator Pat Toomey (@SenToomey) and Senator Bob Casey (@SenBobCasey). Finally, be sure to share this with your networks to increase our voice!
