Check out these numbers:
- We sent 3,036,291 emails this year.
- I know you're reading because 175,077 of you clicked a link to learn more, get involved, and take action
- 102,928 of those clicks led directly to an action like RVPing for an event, sending in a comment, or calling a Senator.
- That doesn't even count a lot of the actions - like showing up to events, getting arrested, or posting on social media.
It sounds like a ton of email, and it was. But at its core that was 67 separate actions and campaigns - From Impeaching Trump (again) after the January 6 insurrection, to the Red Road to DC, to People Vs Fossil Fuels.
So here's my crazy idea and request: Next year we want to support 198 actions and campaigns - roughly 3x as much as we did this year. Some will be big national campaigns and some will be local support for frontline groups. All of them wil mix digital and direct action tactics to achieve real victories like the ones below.
Can you chip in to make this possible?

in 2021 we sent 3,036,291 emails, which lead directly to 102,928 actions like RVPing for an event, sending a public comment to a regulatory agency, or calling a Senator.
That doesn't even count a lot of the actions - like showing up to events, getting arrested, or posting on social media that we don't track either to protect your privacy or because the actions happen away from computers in the real world.
Next year we want to support three times more actions and campaigns. Some will be big national campaigns and some will be local support for frontline groups. All of them wil mix digital and direct action tactics to achieve real victories like the ones below.
Chip in $19.80 to make this possible.

This past year shows, more than ever, that our style of digital support for direct action campaigns can really work:
- We were one of the groups that warned Trump and his crew of fossil fueled fascists would attempt an election-defying coup on January 6, and they did. In the weeks afterwards, our protests, banner drops and research helped connect the dots and create real consequences for the insurrectionists and the fossil fuel companies that financed them.
- Over the summer, our protests at the White house and Congress helped make "no climate no deal" a central part of negotiations over President Biden's legislative agenda. Again and again, we showed up and threw down to keep climate on the agenda, and hold politicians like Joe Manchin accountable.
- The Red Road to DC brought a physical symbol of indigenous resistance and resilience to communities impacted by fossil fuels and extraction from coast to coast. When they arrived in DC, the totem pole was gifted to the Smithsonian and indigenous leaders who'd made the journey on the Red Road got a sit-down meeting with Interior Secretary Haaland.
- When folks on the front lines of the Line 3 fight called for backup and support, we rallied- hundreds of people traveled to Minnesota for the Treaty People's Gathering leading to one of the most-covered, mass-arrest demonstrations to stop a pipeline in history.
- A few months after activist went to the frontlines of Line 3, we brought leaders from the frontlines in Minnesota and elsewhere to DC for 5 days of action at People Vs Fossil Fuels - hundreds were arrested, indigenous leaders occupied the Department of the Interior for the first time in 50 years, and Biden's team faced sharp questions on the eve of the global COP26 climate summit.
- Just this month, we're participating in more than 10 actions- from opposing fossil fuel projects in the Gulf of Mexico, to calling on Federal Energy Regulators to reject fracked gas exports, and more!
The question isn't whether this work makes a difference, or even if you're committed to it. If you're getting this email, it's because you've taken action (clicked an email, signed a petition, or RSVP's for an event) in the last few weeks.
But it's clear that President Biden needs more pressure to follow through on his climate commitments. And frontline allies from the Gulf of Mexico, to Western Canada, and a lot of places in between, are calling for aide.
To ramp up and run 3 times as many campaigns in 2022 as we did in 2021, will take money - it costs about $100 each time we send an alert out, and costs for actions can range from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars. Can you help with a gift of $1.98, $19.80, or $198 to get ready for a year of new and expanded challenges?
Sincerely
Drew and the 198 actions next year crew
