Making a success of Europe | Expectations from & Opportunities for Central Europe and the Balkans
The European Movement International and Raiffeisen Bank International will hold a panel event entitled ‘Making a success of Europe | Expectations from & Opportunities for Central Europe and the Balkans’ in Brussels, on Tuesday, 5 November 2019 (16:00-18:00).
This joint panel event aims to provide the setting for a constructive conversation about the opportunities of EU membership for EU member states from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as to give voice to their expectations for the next five years and beyond. The panel will gather senior politicians and stakeholders from the region in order to discuss with representatives of EU institutions, civil society, the private sector, think-tanks and others.

The objective of the conference is to share regulatory experiences related to improving the effectiveness of nuclear and radiation regulatory systems. It also addresses the international framework for the security of nuclear and other radioactive material. Ultimately, the main focus of the conference is how to work together to address cross-cutting regulatory areas.

Conference Fundamental rights and the rule of law
This conference aims to: build on the main findings of the FRRL Group country visits; identify key trends and create a dialogue with all relevant stakeholders on transversal questions; discuss avenues for solutions with key actors in the area of fundamental rights, as well as the role the EESC could play as a channel for European CSOs.
Conference Inclusiveness of the European Standardisation System
This event aims to: disseminate the main messages of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) opinions on the "Harmonised standards: Enhancing transparency and legal certainty for a fully functioning Single Market" and "European standardisation for 2019"; debate on progress and next steps how inclusiveness can be better achieved, by ensuring that all stakeholders are represented; discuss solutions how their participation in international standardisation should also be supported, expanded and promoted.

The FRA Director will join this year’s Web Summit where some 70,000 people are expected to attend. FRA will join a session which will discuss whether human rights need to be updated to account for technological changes and to better protect our data.

Partners involved in ‘Black History Month EU 2019’ (#BHMEU) will gather for a day of capacity building, networking and reflection in Brussels on 5 November. FRA will present its Being black in the EU report, as well as its work on communicating rights and on civic space.
EESC Conference on fundamental rights and the rule of law
FRA will speak at a working group on civic space during a conference in Brussels on 5 November on fundamental rights and the rule of law.

This seminar brings together esteemed speakers and politicians from Finland and Europe. The seminar will also be a transition towards the Croatian Presidency, beginning in January 2020 as the last term of the Trio.

General elections in Spain
On Sunday, Spanish voters will elect the 14th Parliament of the kingdom. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies will be up for election, as well as 208 of 265 seats in the Senate. The election will be held as provided under article 99.5 of the Spanish Constitution, as a result of the failure in government formation negotiations after Pedro Sánchez's failed investiture voting on 23–25 July 2019.
Presidential elections in Romania
Romanians will also head to the polls but to elect their new president for the next five years. The current head of the state Klaus Iohannis who was elected in 2014, is eligible for re-election. His opponents include current Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dăncilă, President of Save Romania Union party Dan Barna, former Minister of Culture Theodor Paleologu, MEP Mircea Diaconu, and President of Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania Hunor Kelemen.

Conference Fundamental rights and the rule of law
This conference aims to: build on the main findings of the FRRL Group country visits; identify key trends and create a dialogue with all relevant stakeholders on transversal questions; discuss avenues for solutions with key actors in the area of fundamental rights, as well as the role the EESC could play as a channel for European CSOs.
Conference Inclusiveness of the European Standardisation System
This event aims to: disseminate the main messages of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) opinions on the "Harmonised standards: Enhancing transparency and legal certainty for a fully functioning Single Market" and "European standardisation for 2019"; debate on progress and next steps how inclusiveness can be better achieved, by ensuring that all stakeholders are represented; discuss solutions how their participation in international standardisation should also be supported, expanded and promoted.

The FRA Director will join this year’s Web Summit where some 70,000 people are expected to attend. FRA will join a session which will discuss whether human rights need to be updated to account for technological changes and to better protect our data.

Partners involved in ‘Black History Month EU 2019’ (#BHMEU) will gather for a day of capacity building, networking and reflection in Brussels on 5 November. FRA will present its Being black in the EU report, as well as its work on communicating rights and on civic space.

Digitalisation and investment in intangible capital: the spanish case within the EU

General elections in Spain
On Sunday, Spanish voters will elect the 14th Parliament of the kingdom. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies will be up for election, as well as 208 of 265 seats in the Senate. The election will be held as provided under article 99.5 of the Spanish Constitution, as a result of the failure in government formation negotiations after Pedro Sánchez's failed investiture voting on 23–25 July 2019.
Presidential elections in Romania
Romanians will also head to the polls but to elect their new president for the next five years. The current head of the state Klaus Iohannis who was elected in 2014, is eligible for re-election. His opponents include current Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dăncilă, President of Save Romania Union party Dan Barna, former Minister of Culture Theodor Paleologu, MEP Mircea Diaconu, and President of Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania Hunor Kelemen.
