The Chamber Celebrates Our
2021 Achievements
Grand Sponsor
Last week, more than 250 of Arlington's business leaders celebrated the Chamber’s 97th year and 2021 achievements at the Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel.

During the program, 2021 Chair Todd Ihrig, Avantax Investment Services, and Chamber President & CEO Kate Bates highlighted some of the Chamber’s top achievements from the past year, including our business advocacy efforts and successful execution of numerous new programs.

Incoming 2022 Chair Beth Borowski of CNA introduced the 2022 Executive Committee and announced that Tina Leone of the Ballston BID will serve as the 2023 Chair of the Board of Directors.

The program also included the presentation of awards to VIDA Fitness (Chair’s Award), Flavia Sampaio of the Residence Inn by Marriott - Rosslyn (President’s Award), and the Gala Committee (Committee of the Year Award).

Dr. Gregory Washington, President of George Mason University, provided an inspiring keynote speech, which demonstrated how a focus on inclusion can set our community up for success.

Call for Host Venues for Chamber Events and Meetings

Are you ready to welcome people into your space for events? We are looking for hosts for our 2022 Business After Business networking events and Board of Directors meetings.

Business After Business is a popular event that occurs from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The event serves as a monthly opportunity for Chamber members to meet and mingle with one another, both socially and professionally. Hosts have the opportunity to provide a welcome as part of the program.

The Chamber Board of Directors meetings are lunchtime events and are a great way to showcase your space to up to 50 of Arlington’s top business leaders. As the host, you have the opportunity to give a formal welcome before the meetings starts.

Hosts for both receive great marketing, both in advance and by showcasing their venue. For more information on becoming a host, review our  Business After Business Guidelines and Board of Directors Meeting Guidelines and contact Cassie Bate Hurley, Senior Director of Marketing & Operations, at [email protected] to inquire about available dates.

In early 2020, more than four million people quit their jobs and a recent survey indicates that nearly 73% of workers are considering quitting in what’s been deemed “The Great Resignation.”

For many small businesses with low overhead, COVID gave us the opportunity to do what we were already doing — but better.

I was fortunate my business is designed for remote work, and I had some perspective after surviving a tragic and taxing 2018 and 2019. For a scrappy entrepreneur, COVID delivered me the gift of time and reflection, and — eventually — the pivot.
