Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This was another busy week in the U.S. House of Representatives. We considered many bills dealing with everything from energy to veterans affairs. While we were voting, the U.S. Senate was busy negotiating President Biden and Democrats' multi-trillion-dollar Build More Inflation Act. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), this bill spends $4.9 trillion...$5.1 trillion when debt interest payments are included. It will also add a whopping $3 trillion to our national deficit. This is outrageous. I was proud to vote against this bill in the House and hope my colleagues in the U.S. Senate will do the same.

Lesko Continues Effort to Prohibit Vaccine Mandates and Vaccine Passports

I am proud to cosponsor Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger’s (R-TN-01) No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act. The bill prohibits vaccine mandates and passports, and ensures people can’t be forced to disclose personal health information against their will. Americans' medical information must be kept private!

Lesko Fights Back Against Burdensome Dishwasher Regulations

Image

This week, I sent a letter to Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to fight back against burdensome residential dishwasher regulations. I was proud to be joined by Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-05) to fight back against these harmful regulations that are bad for America's working families and seniors.

GET THE FACTS: Biden’s Border Crisis in Yuma

As you likely saw, Yuma's border is out of control right now. U.S. Border Patrol agents are overwhelmed and can't transport or process the flood of illegal immigrants fast enough. Reports indicate that border crossings are surging because the Remain in Mexico policy, also known as Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) is being reinstated. Migrants do not want to cross the border illegally with MPP in place. Biden should never have removed this effective policy in the first place. This Trump-era policy is a deterrent to illegal immigration.

Encouraging Story

I am pleased to share this story about a local 13-year-old boy having his wish fulfilled as he is battling a terminal diagnosis. Andrew is a fan of the movie Cars, so he was delighted when he was able to drive with Danny Bullock on a North Phoenix track.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office after receiving a bill from his community care doctor for services provided by the Phoenix Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital. Our office contacted the VA on behalf of the constituent. The VA conducted a review and determined that the constituent’s claim had been rejected in error. Our office was able to save the veteran from having to pay those medical expenses.
