Hello Waltz Warriors!
We hope this email finds you and your families healthy and safe.
This week, we wanted to send a special newsletter highlighting all of the instrumental provisions Mike added to Congress’s annual defense bill, called the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA for short, that was passed this week.
So let's get into it!
WALTZ'S ADDITIONS TO THE NDAA
There were a lot of crucial pieces of legislation passed in the NDAA and quite a few that Mike added but we wanted to highlight the five additions that will now hold our adversaries like China, Russia, and the Taliban accountable, ensure we don't lose a decade of the intelligence and strategic operations we gathered in Afghanistan because of Biden's failures, AND bring our supply chains home: 1. FORCED LABOR
Our military should NEVER fund our greatest adversary's military buildup nor should it reward genocide or human rights abuse.
That's why Mike added a piece of legislation in the NDAA to prohibit the Department of Defense (DoD) from buying any goods made in China's forced labor camps. 2. CIRCUIT BOARDS
The U.S. military cannot be reliant on China for equipment nor should American taxpayer dollars fund China's military buildup, human rights abuses or genocide, which includes buying new Chinese printed circuit boards. 3. CRITICAL MINERALS
Right now, the CCP has a monopoly on the critical minerals we rely on for our electronics, energy & our military.
We can't continue to rely on our greatest adversary. We must bring home our supply chain and diversify by partnering with our allies like Australia. 4. NO AID TO THE AFGHAN TALIBAN
The Afghan Taliban is made up of murderers, thugs, and terrorists who are aligned with al-Qaeda.
ZERO aid should flow through Kabul as long as the Taliban is in power. There is no such thing as a “moderate” terrorist. 5. COUNTERTERRORISM OPERATIONS IN AFGHANISTAN
It’s clear over-the-horizon capabilities are flawed and we now have far less intelligence in Afghanistan.
As threats from ISIS-K, al-Qaeda & others continue to rise, we must have clearly defined counterterrorism plans in place to respond.
THE NDAA IN WALTZ'S OWN WORDS
Here's what Mike had to say on his support of the defense bill:
“As a Green Beret and combat veteran, I know firsthand how important a well-equipped, well-prepared military force to protect our great country,” said Rep. Waltz. “Right now, our country faces numerous threats from adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party, Russia, and Iran, who continue to undermine and threaten democracies, as well as emboldened terrorist organizations like al Qaeda and ISIS-K, which will now find a safe haven in Afghanistan. This year’s defense bill will help us ensure America can face these challenges and any others while protecting our strategic interests at home and abroad – all thanks to the incredible bravery and incredible skill of the men and women of our armed services. Additionally, this bill will improve the quality of live for our warfighters and their families.”
