John,
With my mom for Caring Across's Communities of Care project
|
My world revolves around caring for others.
I’ve been a professional caregiver for more than 13 years. I’m a family caregiver for my five year-old son and my 80 year-old mother. And, as part of the Pilipino Workers Center, I provide support to Pilipino care workers as they cope with the effects COVID-19 has had on their lives and livelihoods.
Of course, I can’t forget caring for myself! But who helps care for me?
Since joining the Caring Across Generations Care Fellows, I’ve felt supported in a whole new way. Finally, all my care identities — caring for family, for seniors and people with disabilities, and for workers like myself — are recognized, visible, and valued.
Will you donate today to ensure that Caring Across Generations can continue to support caregivers like me, who support so many others?

My mother was a professional caregiver, and from the beginning, my siblings and I respected care work, because it put food on our table. I credit my mother with why I became a caregiver, and three of my siblings did as well. I take great pride in my work, yet care work often doesn’t receive the respect it deserves.
What caregivers, both family and professional, do every day — the skills that we need and the patience that one has to have — are worth compensating as much as any other jobs out there.
We need to make care work, and all that goes into it, more visible and valued. That’s why Caring Across Generations is amplifying the voices of all kinds of caregivers so we can make our voices heard to change our systems of care. And with The Build Back Better plan in Congress right now, I’m feeling that, for the first time, elected leaders are actually listening and acting to improve the welfare of caregivers like me and my mother.
Will you make a donation of $10 today, so that Caring Across Generations can help caregivers like me to advocate for the changes we need for our loved ones, our communities, and our nation?

With care,
