Team, In 2021, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, Republicans in 19 states enacted 33 laws that make it harder for Americans to vote, an unprecedented, coordinated assault on voting rights based on a lie that Donald Trump did not lose the 2020 election. And they are not done yet. Republicans in at least 5 states – Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and New Hampshire – have filed restrictive bills before next year’s legislative sessions, continuing their attack leading to the 2022 midterm election. Team, the GOP will stop at nothing to make sure our diverse coalition of Democratic voters does not show up next year. If you are in the position to do so, will you contribute today to keep Future Forum voting rights advocates in the House?
What the GOP has in store for 2022 takes their 2021 assault to a new level. In Florida, a state with one prosecuted case of voter fraud in 2020, Gov. Ron DeSantis is pushing for an “election law enforcement unit” to investigate “election crimes.” Let’s call this out for what it is – an intimidation effort to keep people from voting. And in Georgia, after Republicans witnessed a diverse Gwinnett County shift to Democratic control in just four years, the GOP introduced bills that would double the size of the board of commissioners and redraw new school board districts. This legislation would guarantee several safe Republican districts, including some that would be mostly white, despite the county’s diversity. Will you contribute today to keep our Democratic majority and voting rights champions in the House? Thank you, Future Forum Team
