Hi again,
I'll keep this short. What happened in yesterday's SCOTUS ruling was a complete assault on our reproductive freedom. Now that I've had some time to let it sink in, I'm more fired up than ever about the work we do at Ruth's List. If we want abortion rights protected for the long haul, we need to vote out anti-abortion lawmakers who play politics with our health care decisions, and replace them with pro-choice champions who will fight tooth and nail for our fundamental right to reproductive health care.

Dear Friend,
As you may have already heard, the Supreme Court just ruled to allow abortion providers to challenge the Texas 6-week abortion ban, while keeping the law in effect. I don’t have to tell you this is a devastating blow to our reproductive freedom.
For the last 100 days, women in Texas have been robbed of the right to make the most fundamental decisions about their own bodies. The Texas abortion ban has forced pregnant patients to travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles, to access essential health care services. As we’ve said for months, not only is this ban unconstitutional, it’s inhumane — and it should have been struck down.
We now await the Court’s decision on Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban, and the writing is on the wall.
What does that mean for pregnant people in Florida? It means the freedom to make our own reproductive health care decisions will very likely fall into the hands of the Republican-majority state legislature. And I don’t have to tell you, the consequences will be dire.
Let’s be clear, this is all part of a coordinated, decades-long assault on the freedom to make our own reproductive health decisions — all for political gain. These abortion bans are a tactic to chip away at abortion rights until all abortion is banned outright. They have nothing to do with medicine or science, and serve only to shame and stigmatize our health care decision-making. It’s completely out of step with the majority of Americans — and Floridians — who believe abortion access should be legal and protected.
If the Supreme Court won’t protect our right to reproductive freedom, it’s up to us. In Florida, that means we must elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot to ensure we can codify abortion rights at the state level.
Your contribution today will ensure we have the resources to fight this assault on abortion rights.
